NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Hollie Steinman scored 14 points, and Abigail Steinman added 13 Tuesday night to lead Teddy’s Pizza to a 50-46 win over Williamstown Physical Therapy in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   Holly contributed 11 rebounds and a block in the win.   For WPT, Aliah Curry scored 13, and Lucy Barrett had 11 points and 11 boards.   In Tuesday’s other game, Lindsay Lincoln scored 11 points to lead Tony’s Electric/At Home TLC/Flynn & Dagnoli to a 36-26 win over Moulton’s Hearing Aids.   Molly Moulton scored 11 points for Moulton’s.   Play continues Wednesday with two games starting at 6:30 at Noel Field.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.  — It didn’t take long for memories to be made and records to be broken at the 108th Massachusetts Amateur Championship.   During round one of the Massachusetts Golf Association’s marquee amateur event, Jake Shuman (Blue Hill CC) fired a competitive course record score of 7-under par 64 to set the pace at Taconic Golf Club.   Shuman, a rising junior at Duke University, carded seven birdies and zero bogies on Monday to post a score that is three strokes better than the course record previously held by Bill Hadden and set during the 2016 club championship.   “Controlling the trajectory and distance is huge on these greens,”

HARTFORD, Vt. -- The Upper Valley Nighthawks beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 10-3, on Friday in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.   The Nighthawks (10-14) swung the bats well right from the start and did not look back.  They scored a runs in the first and third innings on a pair of sacrifice flies by Trent Leimkuehler to go up 2-0. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Adams’ Tanner Bird pitched 1-2-3 ninth inning for his sixth save of the season as the North Adams SteepleCats edged the Valley Blue Sox, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Joe Wolfe Field.   Starter Peter Lannoo got the win on the mound, allowing one hit and one run over six innings.   The SteepleCats broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth when Edward Haus reached on a fielders choice, moved up on an error, stole third and scored on a passed ball.   North Adams (13-9) travels to face Mystic on Wednesday night.
