NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Lawrence Carrier scored 30 points and grabbed eight rebounds Sunday night to lead Dagnoli/Troiano & Sons Building to a 73-61 win over Frame All/Preite Oil in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   Carrier also blocked two shots for Dagnoli, which got 15 points from Ron Kelly and 14 from Jamual Warren.   For Frame All, Tyler Benoit led the way with 14 points. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Dustin Shirley went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs Sunday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to their third straight win, a 6-3 victory over the Vermont Mountaineers at Joe Wolfe Field.   Nick Riotto went 2-for-5 with a run scored, and four different pitchers teamed up to hold Vermont (3-12) to seven hits.   Brian Stepniak earned the win with two innings of hitless relief.   North Adams (10-6) travels to New Bedford on Tuesday. The SteepleCats' next home game is Thursday against Mystic, Conn.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Josh Jezouit threw a complete game three-hitter, and Jesse DiLego went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Cages Baseball Club under-22 team to a 2-0 win over Albany Baseball Fest on Saturday.   Mike Strizzi went 2-for-2 and scored a run, and Dan Flynn went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored for Cages.   Jezouit struck out five and walked five without allowing an extra-base hit.   Cages travels to face the South Troy Dodgers on Wednesday.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The North Adams SteepleCats (9-6) had lost their previous four games following a win, but they ended that streak on Saturday night, winning their second game in a row with a 6-1 victory over the Sanford Mainers (7-7).   The SteepleCats got another strong start from Braxton Wilks.  Wilks improved to 3-0 on the year, going six innings and allowing one run off of four hits and struck out seven. He ran into trouble in the second inning when the Mainers loaded the bases with nobody out. He was able to get out of that inning, stranding all three base runners. The Berkshire Mountaineers seventh grade AAU girls basketball team went 4-0 to win a recent tournament in Portland Maine.   The team is 19-4 with one more tournament left in its season.   The sixth/seventh-grade team includes: Delaney Babcock, Abby Bird, Rylie Bishop, Abby Hugger, Alyssa Garabedian, Jayden Johnson, Sharaya Keele, Averie McGrath, Kaylee Tatro, Grace Towler and Rylynn Witek.   The team is coached by Shaun McGrath and Jeff Johnson.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Work is expected to began soon on the new skate and BMX bicycle park where the former Modern Liquors was located.

The State Street building was razed last week to make way for the $676,000 skate park, which will in turn open up space at Noel Field Athletic Complex for a proposed splash pad and bocce and pickle ball courts.

"As soon as that is down and out I believe work on that skate project should begin relatively soon," Mayor Richard Alcombright told the City Council last week. "We have to spend the money by June 30 next year."

The skate park has been under consideration for some years and was initially sparked by a group of young people

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Paul Oparowski scored 26 points Wednesday to lead Frank Field Contracting to a 63-54 win over Drury High in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   C.J. Field scored 12, and Bob Malloy added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Frank Field.   Drury got 19 points and nine boards from Reece Racette and 14 and eight from Hayden Bird.   In Wednesday’s other game, Atlas Private Wealth Management defeated Meet you at the Rock, 52-44, behind 16 points from Jeff Sprague.   Mike McMahon scored 11 points for Meet You at the Rock.   League play continues Thursday at Noel Field at 6:30 with two games.

DANBURY, Conn. -- Just like the previous couple of games, the North Adams SteepleCats (7-5) found themselves in another high scoring game Wednesday night. This time, North Adams defeated the Danbury Westerners (6-6), 12-10, at Rogers Park.   The SteepleCats completely dominated early on scoring in five of the first six innings to take a commanding 12-1 lead.
