Marguerite Beatrice Field Gould, 87, of 1322 Massachusetts Ave. died Saturday at the Williamstown Commons.
Born in Somerville on Sept. 10, 1916, daughter of John Alexander and Mabel Agnes Muggah Carey, she attended schools in Somer-ville and graduated from Somerville High School.
She also completed several courses in nursing.
She moved to North Adams when she was in her early 20s and was self-employed as a private home health care provider. She was also employed at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates, Greylock division, and in the offices of James Hunter Machine Co.
She was primarily a homemaker.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved to sit on her porch knitting and cross-stitching, and she enjoyed staying in her home in Pompano Beach, Fla., where she lived during the winter for more than 13 years.
Her first husband, Floyd Herbert Field, died July 30, 1967.
Her husband, Philip Gould, died Nov. 1, 1977.
She leaves one son, John Stewart Field of the town of Florida; three daughters, Marguerite "Peggy" Slade of Clarks-burg, Jo Ann Lalonde of Boca Raton, Fla., and Kathleen Crawford of Danbury, Conn.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private funeral services for Marguerite Beatrice Carey Field Gould will take place at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Burial will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
There are no calling hours. In her memory, please phone an elderly friend or relative and let them know you care. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Gloria Dupuis Field; her sons-in-law, Alfred Lalonde and Foster Crawford; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and her dear friend, Dot Gregory of North Adams.
