Hazel Sacco, 96

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Hazel Lena (Adams) Sacco, 96, of North Adams, MA, and a former longtime resident of Stamford, VT died Wednesday May 8, 2019, at Albany Medical Center.



She was born in Bennington, VT on February 14, 1923, daughter of Frank E. and Dorothy (Baker) Adams. She attended the Bennington High School. During World War II, Hazel worked in Chicago to aid the war effort. She later served as a Justice of the Peace in Vermont and performed over 300 marriages. Hazel was primarily a homemaker and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.



She was a member of the Stamford Community Church and the Garden Club. Hazel enjoyed sewing, painting and gardening.



She was the widow of Russell Sacco, who died on January 7, 1999. They were married on August 19, 1950.



Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Sacco of Williamstown and Leslie Bosson of Los Angeles, CA; two sons, Robert Baugh of Adams and Joseph Sacco of Colrain; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Olga Stewart of CA; one brother, Kenneth Adams of North Adams; and nieces and nephews.



Her son, Richard Baugh, died in 1977; and two sisters and two brothers are also deceased, including Elizabeth Nichols, Helen Adams, George Adams and Robert Adams.



FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Hazel Sacco will be Tuesday May 21, 2019, at 11:00 AM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in Millard Cemetery in Stamford, VT. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday morning from 9-11 AM. I didn't see Hazel after she moved, but she was a fun and treasured member of our coffee group for years. My condolences to her family.
