Diane Cary, 70

January 15, 2019

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Diane Cary, 70, of North Adams, Mass., died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

She was born in Waterbury, Conn., on April 11, 1948, daughter of the late Donato Dadamo and Rita (Digregorio) Dadamo. She attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School. Diane chose to explore the mysteries of life with her husband, Tom Cary, and they were happily married for more than 52 years. Diane was an exceptional homemaker, wife, and mother. She was employed in the school department of North Adams, last working in the office at Drury High School. Upon leaving Drury, she and a close friend operated a small business.

Diane had many interests, including reading, gardening, fitness and, of course, cooking and baking. She was widely known for her fine dishes and delicious desserts. Diane had an extraordinary capacity to love. Her grandchildren, family and friends were of utmost importance to her. She wanted little more than to be side by side with her husband no matter the chosen activity: working in the yard, hiking, hunting, fishing, training dogs, motorcycle travel, and star gazing all held cherished memories for her.

Diane was an exceptional woman who was loved by many, is missed by all who knew her, and will always be cherished.

Diane is survived by her husband, Thomas D. Cary; her daughter, Christina M. Cary-Cummings and her husband, Albert J. Cummings IV, and her grandchildren, Carter A. Cummings and Taylor T. Cummings, all of Williamstown, Mass.; two sisters, Jean Guerrera and her husband, Tony, of California and Terry Basford and her husband, Gordon, of Texas; three brothers, Danny Dadamo, Vincent Dadamo and Dennis Dadamo, all of California; nieces and nephews and her favorite Aunt Connie.

She was predeceased by two children, Caroline Cary (1971) and Thomas Cary (1975); and her beloved Irish terrier, Emma.

Tom and Christina would like to extend gratitude to nurse Bernadette, nurse Maureen, and nurse Trish of Hospice for great care and support during Diane's struggle.

Funeral notice: A funeral service to celebrate the life of Diane Cary will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 6 p.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Monagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass. Calling hours are Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. Donations in her memory can be made to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
