Sandra Reissour, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Sandra (Martinelli) Reissour, 77, of Springfield died unexpectedly on Monday, November 26, 2018, at her home.



She was born on July 18, 1941, in North Adams, Mass., a daughter of the late John and Olga (Cellana) Martinelli. Sandra attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School. She was a graduate of St. Luke's School of Nursing and later attended the College of Our Lady of the Elms, where she earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing. She was employed for 52 years until her retirement at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, first as a Head Nurse and later as an Education Specialist in Academic Affairs. A founding member of the American Nurses Association Massachusetts, Sandra also volunteered for many years with nurses in continuing education.



Sandra enjoyed traveling with her family and summers on Cape Cod. She treasured the time with her family, especially reading and playing with her granddaughters, who were the love of her life. An avid reader, Sandra was committed to learning throughout her life. With a strong sense of fairness and analytical approach, her family and friends would often seek her wisdom and insight.



Sandra was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Hussein Reissour, who passed away on November 10, 2006.



Sandra leaves her beloved son, Shukrallah "Chuck" Hussein Reissour and his wife Nisrin; two grandchildren Lana and Jenna; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.



Sandra was predeceased by a son, Hussam Reissour; her sisters, Dorothy Farinon and Catherine Talarico; and her first husband, John Farley, and their infant daughter, Kristen.



Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Sandra Reissour will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.



Calling hours will be on Saturday from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Funeral Home, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. Donations may be made in memory of Sandra Reissour to the American Nurses Association Massachusetts, P.O. Box 285 Milton, MA 02186 for a scholarship fund.
