Cheryl L. Bergendahl, 71

November 17, 2018


NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Cheryl L. (Crews) Bergendahl, 71, of Drury, Mass., passed away peacefully on November 17, 2018, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.



Cheryl was born in North Adams on October 4, 1947, daughter of Kenneth E. Crews and Marion E. Brewer. She attended Brayton School and Drury High School, graduating in 1966. She started her career at Sprague Electric Co., and then worked for 24 years as a bookkeeper at Northern Berkshire Home Health Aide Service, continuing on to work as a bookkeeper at Navom Chiropractic until her retirement.



Cheryl was a loving, kind person, known for her quick wit and sense of humor.  She adored her three grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with them. She had a deep devotion to her many four-legged friends and would take care of any creature that would cross her path.



Cheryl leaves behind her husband of 50 years, Francis J. Bergendahl; three sons, Richard Bergendahl and his wife, Jaana, of North Adams, Brent Bergendahl and his wife Nancy of Drury, Mass., and Eric Bergendahl of Enfield, Conn.; siblings, Kathy (David) Ascevich of Williamstown, Mass., Marcia Messina of North Adams, Mass., and Kenneth Crews of North Adams, Mass.; sisters-in-law Linda Bergendahl of Boston, Mass., and Terry Day of North Bend, Ore.; three grandchildren, Nea, Saku and Dillon; and many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.



Cheryl was predeceased by her brother, Gary Crews.



Funeral notice: Private family services and funeral will be held at a later date. In honor of her memory, donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.

I was so sorry to hear of Cheryl's passing. Cheryl and I were in many classes together at Drury and I graduated with her in 1966. I also went out with Gary for about 2 years during those high school days. Cheryl was a quiet and good person. My sympathies to the whole family.
