Charles L. Louison, 93

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charles Louis Louison, 93, of North Adams, Mass., died on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Williamstown Commons.



He was born in Adams, Mass., on May 14, 1925, a son of the late Henry and Melina (Foisy) Louison. Mr. Louison was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. He received several medals honoring his military service, including the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre Medal.



Mr. Louison worked as an auto mechanic and auto body expert at Adams Auto Co., until his retirement.  He was an avid roller-skater and skier of the Thunderbolt Trail. Mr. Louison will be remembered dearly for his love of family, cars, his beloved dog Tanner and his story telling.



He was the widower of Theresa Bertha (Ginthwain) Louison, whom he married on May 9, 1953. She died on June 18, 2015.



Survivors include seven children, including Beverly Naughton and Michael of Cheshire, Lawrence Louison of North Carolina, Jayne Gamache and Arthur Woodward of North Adams, Susan Nolan and John of North Adams, Patricia Rosse and Glenn of Cheshire, Dolores Hamm and Garry of Plymouth, N.H., and Donna Michalski of North Adams; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Teresa Dudek of Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.



He was predeceased by his sister, Betty Skorupski.



Funeral notice: A private funeral service to celebrate the life of Charles Louison will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247. Burial with full military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory can be made to the Louison House.
