James P. Sherry, 80

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — James P. Sherry, 80, of Longwood, Fla., passed away peacefully at his home on May 16, 2018. 



He was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on August 30, 1937 the son of the late Edward and Grace (Mace) Sherry. Jim graduated from the former St. Joseph High School in North Adams and St. Francis Xavier College in Nova Scotia, Canada. He received his Master’s Degree in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Jim worked for 25 years at Sprague Electric. He was Executive Vice President there until purchasing the Florida division of the company in 1992. It then became Dearborn Electronics. He was the President of Dearborn until his retirement in 2012. 



He had a full and successful life. He enjoyed his work, golfing, and painting. Jim loved traveling and dancing with his wife, but his greatest joy was taking care of his family. He was a parishioner at Annunciation Catholic Church in Longwood, Fla.



Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Diana (Dupras) Sherry, who he married on June 26, 1981, in St. Francis Church in North Adams; his children, Richard E. Sherry of Apopka, Florida, Stephanie (Mark) Giebner of Ludlow, Massachusetts, Debra Murrelle of Apopka, Florida, Jeffrey (Melissa) Popielarczyk of Clifton Park, New York, and Scott Popielarczyk of Huntersville, North Carolina; 13 grandchildren Tanya, Summer, Fallon, Colin, Logan, Morgan, Madison, Quinn, Daniel, Sharon, Ryan, Sean and Trisha; and two great-grandchildren, Landon and Annabelle. 



He was predeceased by his sister, Ann Sherry in 2005.



Funeral notice: Funeral services to celebrate the life of Jim Sherry will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018, at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in North Adams at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown. 



Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main Street, North Adams, are Friday, May 25, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in North Adams through the funeral home.
