Marcia J. Swenson, 70

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Marcia Joan (Deraway) Swenson, 70, of Muncie, Ind., and formerly of North Adams, died Friday May 18, 2018, in Hartford City, Ind.



She was born in North Adams, Mass., on June 6, 1947 daughter of Raymond Henry and Margaret Elizabeth (Felix) Deraway. She attended local schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School. Marcia worked at several businesses throughout her life, but was primarily a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.



While in North Adams, she was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.  Marcia enjoyed motocross racing, skiing, speed-skating and playing bingo, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.



Survivors include her husband, Christopher John Swenson, whom she married on March 18, 1972; two daughters, Josephine Swenson and fiancé Clayton Turner of Hartford City, Ind., and Jennifer Swenson and fiancé Dexter Montgomery of Yorktown, Ind.; three sons, Stephen Chipchase of Stamford, Vt., John Chipchase of North Adams and Christopher Swenson II and wife Noka of Anderson, Ind.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pamela Pearson of Clarksburg, Cheryl Martin and husband Ray of Bennington, Vt., and Diane Gregalis and husband Don of Cape Cod; one brother, David Deraway and wife Bonnie of Clarksburg; her sister-in-law Liz Deraway; and nieces and nephews.  



Her daughter, Janet Rawson, is deceased; and her brother, Raymond Deraway, and brother-in-law, Russell Pearson, are deceased.



Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Marcia Swenson will be celebrated Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.  



Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., are Thursdaym May 24, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the funeral home.
