Catherine Chalifoux, 59

April 09, 2018

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Catherine Chalifoux, 59, of North Adams passed Monday morning, April 9, 2018, peacefully at home attended by her brother Michael Chalifoux and nieces Nora Chalifoux and Caitlin Fairneny.

Cathy made her home with her family on Church Street, attended school at Haskins and Mark Hopkins’ and Sullivan Schools. From a young age, Cathy enjoyed sports and was a huge supporter of all the New England Sports teams. She watched all the games from Patriots playoffs to rooting for the Bruins and supporting Larry Bird, and Kevin McHale while they played hoop! And of course, her beloved Red Sox! She was their biggest fan!

Cathy had many roles with family and friends. She was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and cousin.  She also was the "Head Manager" to a fortunate bunch of individuals who were selected to be in her group.  Cathy was also the "Big Partner" to her best friend and father. Cathy was forever 18 and had a special bond with her niece Nora Chalifoux to be teenagers forever.

Cathy always brightened a room with simply her presence. She had the biggest smile and an infectious belly laugh. She had a gift for brightening your day!  She became special to everyone who knew her and had quite the fan club. So much so, that on her birthdays she spent the entire day by the phone answering calls for birthday wishes. The only other day she spent time on the phone was April 1. She loved to give April fools to her family and friends.  A couple of favorites were "you have a bug in your hair" or "your shoe’s untied." She would laugh so hard when you would check.

In addition to April Fool's jokes, Cathy would write jokes every week to bring to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish for the pastor when she went to mass weekly with her family.

Cathy is predeceased by her mother, Catherine Coyne Chalifoux; father Jean Major Chalifoux; Aunt Mary Coyne; sister Mary Ann Chalifoux; and many other loved ones. Cathy leaves behind her brother, Michael J. Chalifoux; brother Thomas Chalifoux; niece Nora Chalifoux; niece Caitlin Fairneny and her husband Ty Fairneny; and also her great nephew and niece Colin and Alana Fairneny.

Funeral notice: Services will be at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to Berkshire County ARC at www.bcarc.org or in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
