Lillian J. Houghton, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lillian Jane (Gregalis) Houghton, 88, of North Adams, Mass., died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt.



She was born in North Adams, Mass., on December 13, 1928 a daughter of the late Zigmont and Julia (Borowski) Gregalis. She attended schools in North Adams, graduating from Drury High School with the class of 1946. Lillian was last employed by Sweet Brook Nursing Home in Williamstown, where she worked until her retirement in 1991. Prior to that, she was employed at Sprague Electric Company for 17 years, as well as North Adams Commons on Franklin Street.



She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in North Adams. Lillian enjoyed quilting and knitting, and she was a gourmet cook. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.



Survivors include her husband, William H. Houghton, whom she married on June 26, 1948, in St. Francis of Assisi Church; two sons, Stephen Houghton of Greenfield, Mass., and Dana Houghton of North Adams; four daughters, Susan Boucher of Palmer, Mass., Nancy Boisjolie of Southampton, Mass., Kathleen Lancto of North Adams and Christine Fairbank of Dalton, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Gregalis.



Funeral notice: A private Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Lillian Houghton will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial in Southview Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours. Donations in her memory can be made to St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
