NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Nancy Ann Nichols, 87, of North Adams, died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Williamstown on June 4, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred Keefe Tanguay, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated with the Drury High School class of 1947.
Mrs. Nichols was employed for several years at the former New England Telephone Co. and retired from the former Adams Supermarket in 1986.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Her many joys included reading, knitting, crocheting, crafting hand-braided rugs, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family. She will be remembered by all who loved her for her beautiful personality, gentle demeanor, loving ways, and wonderful sense of humor.
She will be forever missed.
In addition to her devoted husband of 67 years, Robert Bruno Nichols, whom she married on Oct. 8, 1949, she leaves her son, Gary Nichols and his wife, Phyllis, of Medford, N.J.; her daughter, Laurie Nichols Breda and her husband, Joseph, of Cheshire, Conn.; a brother, Arthur Tanguay Jr. and his wife, Doris, of North Adams; her son-in-law, Richard Pellerin of North Adams; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Nichols was predeceased by her daughter Judith Nichols Pellerin and her brother, Neil Tanguay.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Nichols will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth's Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 7 at
Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Jimmy Fund.
