NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ronald Romeo Marony, 92, of North Adams died on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 13, 1925, a son of Aldo Alfred and Pauline Gregory Marony, he was educated in the North Adams Public Schools.
He was a decorated Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Marony was last employed in the Highway Department of the city of North Adams, retiring in 1987.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, and a member of the American Legion Post 125. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved camping.
His wife, the former Mary Rose Blay, whom he married on April 18, 1953, died on June 5, 2016.
He leaves his brother, Erman R. Marony of Williamstown; two sisters, Gloria Marony of North Adams and Mary Saunders of Williamstown, and nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Marony will take place on Thursday, July 13, at 11 a.m. from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at
Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Elizabeth's Church through the funeral Home.
