Marilyn S. Moreau, 96

June 06, 2017

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — She answered to Mom, Gram, Gigi, Gert, Great Sybil, Aunt Sib and Sybil. Marilyn Sybil Eagar Moreau, born in North Adams on May 6, 1921, left her family and friends on June 6, 2017, after 96 full and vibrant years of life.

She was the daughter of the late Alston M. Eagar and Eva Wade Eagar and sister of the late Alston L. Eagar. Sybil graduated from Drury High School at 17 years of age. She briefly attended Providence Rhode Island School of Nursing. After her children were grown she attended evening classes at MCLA in business accounting and computer skills. She dabbled in Real Estate for Century 21.

Sybil loved singing in her First Congregational Church choir as a child and continued throughout her life. Sybil loved having tea with friends and doing hand crafts. She entered the business world mid-life, turning her deftness and mastery of crafting into a business, owning and managing House of Crafts, Inc., for 20 years with her late husband George E. Moreau.

After the store closed, she worked for Elder Services of the Berkshires and Meals on Wheels under their senior program until she was 90 years old.

Sybil leaves four living children, Marilynn Sybil Moreau Kirby, William Alston Moreau, Phillip Cortland Moreau and wife Marsha and Virginia Moreau Reed. She is predeceased by her daughter Karen Ellen Moreau Wolkin. Sybil also leaves her son-in-law Edward Wolkin; nephew John Alston Eagar and his extended family; 10 grandchildren, Allicia M. Clark, Hailley M. Felter, Kim Marie Foss, Robbin Clancey, Tracey Coe-Gaudreau, Scott Wolkin, Jennifer Moreau, Marsha Robertson, Phillip (Cory) Moreau, Jr. and Robert Ian Moreau; and 13 great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Grayson, McKenna, Kyle, Cody, Brandon, Kayla, Adam, Chad, Ethan, Georgia Rose, Taylor and Riley. She is also survived by extended family of her late husband, George E. Moreau.

Funeral notice: Sybil will be laid to rest in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, beside her father, mother and brother. According to her wishes there will be no funeral. Sybil wanted family and friends to gather and retell old stories at a date to be announced this summer. The last year of her life was enhanced by the loving care given by the staff of North Adams Commons. Thank you.

The Paciorek Funeral Home, Adams, is in charge of arrangements. No flowers please. Consider memorial donations to Elder Services of the Berkshires Meals on Wheels 877 South St. Suite 4E, Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital Cancer Center,1275 York Ave, New York, NY 10065, both close to Sybil's heart.
