Richard D. Cota, 80

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Richard David Cota, 80, of North Adams, Mass., died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Sweetbrook Nursing Home in Williamstown, Mass.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on October 3, 1936, a son to the late Albert and Florence (Coons) Cota. He attended schools in Williamstown, including Williamstown High School. After high school he enlisted in the US Marine’s in 1954 and served during the Korean Conflict until 1962 where he was discharged with the rank of Corporal. Mr. Cota was employed at Excelsior Printing retiring after 42 years.
Richard was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed cheering and watching his children and grandchildren participate in all their sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, the former Karen McKnight, whom he married February 15, 1957. He also leaves two sons, Matthew Cota and his wife Terri of Adams and Timothy Cota of Stamford; five grandchildren, Sean and Chelsea Cota, Kaci Meczywor and Kevin and Bryan Cota; and one brother, William Cota and his wife Barbara of Bennington, Vt.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Cota, who died October 16, 2012.
