NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Anita M. (Rosa) Bassi went peacefully to the Lord on March 20, 2017.
Born to parents Gilio and Christina (Sibona) Rosa on May 5, 1934, Anita was a loving, generous, energetic and engaging person. She always had the ability to make people laugh with her humor and wit. She worked hard throughout her lifetime, starting as a waitress. She then owned a furniture store in North Adams with her husband where she used her talents as a designer and upholsterer. Later in life, Anita became a caregiver and companion.
Anita is survived and very much loved by her children and grandchildren, Christine (Toomey) Collins of Stamford, Vt., Grammy to Brian, Jolene and Patrick and Noni to Khloe, Hunter, Aiyana, Brian and Gage; Patrice (Toomey) and Marc DeSanty of North Adams, Mass., Grammy to Christopher and Danielle; Gerald Toomey of North Adams, Grammy to Katlyn and Dylan; Jamey (Bassi) and Darren DeMyer of Jacksonville, N.C., Noni to Jason and Sean and Grammy to Jennifer, Gerald and Corrine; beloved sister Janet Luick of Pennsylvania; nieces Lisa and Monica and nephews Tommy and Rocky, who were always there for her; and devoted friend Pat Palmer and the Door of Hope community.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, James Bassi; daughter Antoinette Toomey Soucie; and brother Robert Rosa.
