NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Madeline Mary (Martin) Demers, 90, of North Adams died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at home with family at her side.
She was born in Adams, Mass., on October 1, 1926, daughter of Dennis and Lillian (Sirard) Martin. She attended Adams schools and graduated from the Adams High School.
Madeline worked at the Arnold Print Works for many years and retired from Waverly Fabrics. She also worked as an EMT for the North Adams Ambulance Service and Crane and Company.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and was a member of its Rosary Society and Bowling league. She also loved the Boston Red Sox.
She was the widow of Charles H. Demers, who died on November 12, 1985. They were married on October 12, 1943.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Demers and Barbara Gomeau of North Adams; one son, Charles H. Demers Jr. and his wife Susan of Hudson, N.H.; four grandchildren, Sean Demers, Jennifer Murch and her husband Jon, Jessica Mullen and her husband Curtis and Beth Harris and her husband Michael; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Harrison Mullen and Tucker and Drew Murch; one sister, Gloria Gamache and her husband Kenneth; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Laura Gomeau, who died on December 4, 2011.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Madeline Demers will be celebrated Friday, March 17, 2017, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Thursday, March 16, 2017, from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Angel of Hope Garden in care of the funeral home.
