JAMAL JACKSON DANCE COMPANY: “ROB DAY”

EPHRAT ASHERIE: ODEON
Cheshire, 8 p.m.
Co-presented with Jacob's Pillow Dance Bessie Award-winning choreographer Ephrat Asherie offers a sneak peek at her work-in-progress Odeon, a dazzling exploration of breaking, hip-hop, house, and vogue. Her brother Ehud, an acclaimed pianist, will perform a score by Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth, a blend of early 20th century classical music with samba and popular Afro-Brazilian rhythms. LENOX CONTRA DANCE MAY 19TH
Lenox, 7:45 - 11:00 p.m.
Music by Polaris - Jesse Ball (accordion, guitar, hammer dulcimer, and feet), Marta Bartholomew (fiddle), Rose Jackson (fiddle), Sam Zakon-Anderson (piano), with caller Quena Crain. Come join us contra dancing on Saturday nights in Lenox, Massachusetts in the Lenox Community Center, at 65 Walker Street. Experience the pleasure of dancing on a beautiful wood floor, in a high-ceiling second floor (handicap accessible) ballroom with a raised stage. Admission is $12 and $6 for students. New Dancers - 2nd dance free!  Dances begin with a 15 minute beginner introduction at 7:45 followed by dancing from 8:00 to 11:00. Refreshments are offered during the social break from dancing. All the dances are taught. Come alone or with others.
