PITTSFIELD TRACK AND FIELD GAMES
Pittsfield, 9 a.m.
The City of Pittsfield Department of Community Development Recreation Program has announced that the Pittsfield Track and Field Games will take place Saturday, July 29 at the Taconic High School Track, 96 Valentine Road.  Because of the construction, please enter the track off of Lakeway Drive. The city has teamed up with Berkshire Lightning, Berkshire Running Center and the YMCA, for this free program. The games introduce and teach children ages 6 to 14 the basics of track and field including warm ups and several running and field components.  Registration and warm ups will begin at 9 a.m. with events beginning at 9:30 a.m. For more information call Becky Manship, Recreation Activities Coordinator, at 413-499-9370 or email parks@pittsfieldch.com.

TEAM POETRY SLAM

The WordXWord Festival is back from July 30 through Aug. 5, with a variety of spoken word events in downtown Pittsfield and nearby Lenox, bookended by two variations on the popular poetry slam format. 43rd Adams Agricultural Fair kicks off with MA Truck Pullers 6-10, all welcome to enter event. 6:00 is music by Sarah the Fiddler under the pavilion, children's pedal tractor contest and music at 7:00 by Straight up.

Judging if sheep, cattle and goats at 10 with Weastern MA Gardners testing soil 10-4 PM. Crowing of Fair Prince And Princess at 11 and the start of the Horse Pull under the willows and Pups in the Air demonstration. Noon is Birds of Prey with Tom Riccardi and sheep dog demo at noon. Kristen Demeo, author reads "Simply Susan " at 11 and her new book, "The Garden Fairies" at 11:30. Terry a la Berry and Friends entertain all ages 1-3 PM under the pavilion. truck Pulls begin 2-5 and continue 6-9 PM in the pulling arena. Afternoon events include Pups in the Air, Berkshire Line Dancers, Kumar Adams K-9 dog, story hour at 4:30 and Bits and Pieces at 7:00. PLASTIC BAG UPCYCLE WORKSHOP
North Adams, 1:30-4 p.m.
The North Adams Public Library will host Lou’s Plastic Bag Upcycle Workshop. Participants will learn about upcycling plastic bags through the process of fusing. Using the heat and pressure of a household iron, a new type of textile is formed from un-recyclable plastic bags and wrappers that would usually be thrown away. This 101 class teaches the basics of plastic bag fusing and each participant will complete a final project using the fused textile. Participants must be at least 10 years old and pre-register in the Youth Services Department for the workshop as space is limited.
