MCLA: Scenes from the Center for Resourceful Living

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) presents "Scenes from The Center for Resourceful Living, North Adams State College, 1975-1980," on view at the MOSAIC Event Space, at 49 Main St. in North Adams, from Oct. 3 through Nov. 2.    An opening reception will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, from 5-7 p.m., during North Adams' First Friday celebration.   The MOSAIC exhibition of photographs documenting The Center for Resourceful Living highlights the 50-year anniversary of the founding of The Center and offers a peek inside this program at the then North Adams State College in the late 1970s.   According to a press

Savoy Town Meeting Unanimously Backs McCann Tech Project

The members of Savoy's Select Board listen to a meeting member during Wednesday's session.   SAVOY, Mass. — By a unanimous vote Wednesday, a special town meeting gave its approval for a $16.8 million roof and window replacement project at McCann Technical School.   Savoy is one of nine municipalities that comprise the Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District.   All eight towns and the City of North Adams need to OK the project — either through inaction or a vote like Wednesday's – in order for the district to move forward with the project, 64 percent of which will be paid for by the Massachusetts School Building Authority

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — There's a young pup looking for a new family to play with.   iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.   Onyx is a year-old, male American bulldog mix at No Paws Left Behind.   Kennel assistant Rileigh Norcross introduced us to Onyx.   "He's very goofy. He likes to play a lot. Sometimes he's a little too intense. North Adams City Hall Hosts 'Daydream' Sculpture

Berkshire Restaurants Awarded MassDevelopment Grants

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield restaurants  Marie's North Street Eatery, BB's Hot Spot and Mazzeos were awarded grants along side North Adams restaurant Bigg Daddy's.   MassDevelopment announced $900,000 in grants from the Food Insecurity Grant Program for Independent Restaurants, a program in which independent restaurants in Massachusetts receive funding to prepare and supply meals and other food products for nonprofit meal distributors with the goal of helping address food insecurity in the state.  Marie's North Street Eatery was awarded $13,000 BB's Hot Spot was awarded $11,420    Mazzeos was awarded $10,000 Bigg Daddy's was

Fall Foliage Events, Parade Grand Marshal Announced

North Adams ConComm OKs Brown Street Bridge, Gas Station

A rendering of what the gas station at Eagle and Canal will look like.   NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Brown Street Bridge has been cleared for work to begin temporary repairs to the deteriorating beams that have left it closed for more than two years.    The Conservation Commission on Wednesday that no notice of intent was required on project.    "The project is for the temporary repairs of the Brown Street Bridge so we can get it open back up," said Commissioner of Public Services Timothy Lescarbeau. "There's going to be repair work done on the beams, no excavation, so there's no issues with erosion controls or things like that.

Fall Foliage Leaf Hunt 2025

The annual Fall Foliage Leaf Hunt, a traditional and popular feature that kicks off Fall Foliage Festival Week starts Saturday, Sept 27.     This year the committee has revealed that there will be 11 colorful leaves hidden in Adams, North Adams, and Williamstown.    When a leaf is found, it should be brought to the Office of Tourism at North Adams City Hall during normal business hours to claim a prize. One prize per household please.
