North Adams' Thomas Takes Gold at Special Olympics USA

ORLANDO, Fla. -- North Adams' Jenna Thomas rolled a 123 game Tuesday to earn a first place finish in the singles bowling competition at the the Special Olympics USA Games.   Thomas compiled a three-game series of 310 with games of 96, 91 and 123 at the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center.   She is representing Team Massachusetts again on Wednesday in the doubles competition and again on Thursday in the team event.

Mass MoCA Looking to Fill Guard House Space

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art has issued a call for concepts for the guard house space.   Deputy Director Tracy Moore told the Mass MoCA Commission on Monday that the museum has begun seeking out a new tenant to fill the space that formally housed A-oK Barbeque.   "We are looking forward to entertaining ideas and looking forward to people sharing their concepts with us," Moore said.    A-oK's owners announced in late April that they would be leaving the Museum campus on May 2. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- David Christoforo went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs Tuesday to lead Bristol to an 11-4 win over the SteepleCats in their season opener at Joe Wolfe Field on Tuesday night.   Nate Beal threw three effective innings in relief for North Adams, striking out three and allowing just one run.   Taconic graduate Cedric Rose led the SteepleCats' offense, going 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.   Tuesday's game was shortened to seven innings due to rain.   North Adams (0-1) is home Wednesday night to face Winnipesaukee.

Four Young People Injured in Saturday Morning Crash in Florida

FLORIDA, Mass. — Four young people were injured in a motor vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Olson Road.    A 2002 Hyundai Sonata operated by an 18-year-old Adams teen failed to stop at the stop sign at Tilda Hill Road next to the firehouse at about 1:30 a.m. and drove across the Mohawk Trail onto Olson Road, where he struck to parked two parked Ford F-150 pickup trucks. The call came in about 1:41 a.m.    The driver incurred minor injuries, as did his two 19-year-old male passengers -- one from Berkshire and another from Adams. MCLA Benedetti Teaching Artist-in-Residence 'Travelogue' to Open

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Conrad Egyir, MCLA's inaugural Benedetti Teaching Artist in Residence, will unveil a solo exhibition, "Travelogue," on Friday, June 10, at MCLA Gallery 51 on Main Street, with an event to mark the opening from 5-7 p.m.    This event is free and open to the public; "Travelogue" runs until September 2022.     The exhibition is supported by a $2,500 grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council's Cultural Investment Portfolio program, awarded recently to MCLA Arts and Culture (MAC), which hosts several artist residencies each year.
