Williamstown's Boyd 20th in Age Group at Boston Marathon

BOSTON, Mass. -- Williamstown's Stephanie Boyd placed 20th in her age group on Monday in the 126th running of the Boston Marathon.   Boyd covered the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 37 minutes, 40 seconds, maintaining a pace of 8:18 per mile to finished 20th in the women's 60-64 division.   The women's 60-64 age group had 450 finishers.   A pair of runners from Kenya won the event, which celebrated its return to the Patriots Day holiday for the first time since 2019.   Evans Chebet took the men's title in a time of 2:06:51. He was followed by countryman Lawrence Cherono (2:07:21) as Kenyan athletes took five of the top six places on the men's

Earth Day Celebration in Merchants Park

Cpl. Peter Belmonte joined the Marines right after graduating from Drury High School.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — My Veteran Spotlight feature this week is about a graduate of Drury High School.    Peter Belmonte served his country in the Marine Corps from 1989 to 1994. A mere 10 days after his graduation, he was standing on Parris Island.    "It was a real shock. Everyone arrives in the dark. In basic, you're there for one week and your drill instructors are still in school so you don't get the full brunt. 1Berkshire Welcomes Youth Leadership Class

North Adams Public Library Adds Kanopy

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The library will add a new service Kanopy to its offerings.   Kanopy is a video streaming service that provides instant access to thousands of critically acclaimed movies, documentaries, and kid shows.   Kanopy includes works from studious including  A24, The Criterion Collection, PBS and more.   Kanopy is accessible via a mobile app. It can also be accessed on computers and SmartTV apps.   Patrons can create an account here and select "Add Library Card." From there they can create an account.   Each Library card account gets six plays each month for regular films and four plays a month from the Great Courses collections.

City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket. Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.

The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
