NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — After a structural inspection of the library, the city found that someone has attempted to steal the copper gutter system.   "Someone has been working on stealing our copper drainage over on the East Main Street side," Library Director Mindy Hackner said at Wednesday's trustee's meeting. "I noticed damage to the porch railing and it looks like someone has worked things loose but now the city knows about it."   Although no copper was actually stolen, rivets were missing and it appeared as though someone was preparing to tear away the drainage.   Acting Chairman Rich Remsberg asked if anything was being done to make sure no

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket. Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.

The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).

Secor contacted O'Neill who  was excited and surprised at winning. "No, I'm not kidding," Secor assured her
