Local Gallery, Artists Support Louison House

Real Eyes Gallery owners Bill and Francie Riley opened their doors to host the exhibition.

ADAMS, Mass. — An exhibition at the Real Eyes Gallery has raised several thousand dollars for Louison House to help those affected by homelessness.

"A Sense of Place" opened on June 4 and concluded on Thursday but the pieces will be live and available on the gallery's website for another month. Fifty percent of all artwork sales go to the non-profit organization.

Gallery owners Bill and Francie Riley were approached by the four participating artists who wanted to do something good in the community and happily played host.

Fourth of July Festivities Include Parades, Fireworks

The annual July 4 Esplanade Events are July 3 night practice (no fireworks) and Thursday night with fireworks following the Boston Pops, which begin at 8. This year's event features a flyover, Queen Latifah and Arlo Guthrie. MBTA usually runs free after the July 4 concert. More information here.

Freight Yard Owners Propose $2M Investment in Heritage State Park

Freight Yard Pub is the oldest tenant in the park outside the state; the owners say the building is in serious need of renovation after nearly 40 years. HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Hunter Pasqualini went 3-for-5 with an RBI Friday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to an 8-5 win over the Valley Blue Sox.   Cedric Rose had a pair of hits, and Ryan Galanie homered for North Adams.   Nate Beal earned the win on the mound, allowing one run in two innings of relief of starter Cole Zaffiro, who surrendered two runs in 4-1/3 innings.   North Adams (5-16) hosts Mystic on Saturday evening.

Speech Therapy Now Available at SVMC's Northshire and Deerfield Valley Campuses

LYNN, Mass. -- Jake Gigliotti scattered six hits over seven innings to lead the North Shore Navigators to a 4-0 win over the North Adams SteepleCats on Thursday night.   Connor Bertsch went 2-for-4 with a triple to lead the Navigators' offense.   Alex Lane and Justin Sierra each had a pair of hits for the SteepleCats.   North Adams (4-16) will look to snap a five-game losing streak on Friday when it travels to Holyoke to face the Valley Blue Sox.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- McCann Tech sophomore Nora Moser struck out 14 in a three-hit performance Wednesday as the Adams-Cheshire-Savoy travel softball 16-and-under squad beat the Greylock Thunder, 13-1, in the Berkshire County Fastpitch Softball League.   Moser allowed just an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to spoil a shutout bid at Francis Millard Field in the season opener for both teams.   Offensively, the ACS Swat got all the runs it needed in the top of the first, when it batted around and scored six runs on a pair of hits.   Ari Rivard got things starte with a leadoff single, and Haley McNeice had an RBI single to center in the rally.   ACS did most of

BHS Providing COVD-19 Vaccine for Infants and Toddlers

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — With the recent approval by the CDC of COVID-19 vaccination for children under the age of 5, Berkshire Health Systems has scheduled vaccine clinics for that population, while continuing to provide the vaccine for all other ages.    On Saturday, July 2, the BHS Testing and Vaccine Center in Pittsfield will hold its monthly COVID vaccine clinic for children 5 to 11, running from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. BRISTOL, Conn. -- Bristol's Chaz Myers drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 10th Wednesday as the Blues defeated the SteepleCats, 2-1.   North Adams got a sterling performance from starting pitcher Randy Reyes, who struck out six and allowed just one hit in six innings of work.   Will Hearn was tagged with the loss, allowing just one unearned run in the 10th. North Adams Commission Keeps Key West Limits; Tables Fiesta Permit

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The restrictions placed on Key West Lounge after a shooting outside the bar in February will remain in place at least until next week.    The License Commission on Tuesday held a three-month review of the conditions put in place on March 8: the bar had to close by 1 a.m. and had to have a trained doorman on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.    The commission, with members Rosemari Dickinson and Peter Breen in attendance, agreed to continue the earlier hours until Dec. 31 with a review to occur at that time.
